I came to UNB in 1995 after completing my Ph.D. in Clinical Life Span Development at the University of Victoria. The primary goals of my work are to understand adolescent development, especially from the perspective of youths, and to translate this understanding into practical changes that will promote teenagers’ health and well-being. I strive, through my research and teaching, to provide undergraduate and graduate students with knowledge and skills that will prepare them to respond to the needs of children and youths and their families. My students and I are currently conducting research on adolescents’ help-seeking behaviour, aggressive behaviour in adolescent dating relationships, and parent-adolescent communication about sexual health.
